Lolade Ottun, 45, a maths educator, said her child Jamal was a talented understudy situated for a profession as a City market analyst.
The 17-year-old was swimming with colleagues in Shawnigan lake on Vancouver Island when he vanished from perspective, starting an unhinged inquiry.
His body was spotted by a firefighter in three and a half meters of water and dragged onto a dock. Paramedics attempted to restore him before his companions and instructors however he was proclaimed dead at the scene on Sunday evening.

Jamal was a year 12 student at Wallington County Grammar School in south London and was on the two-week rugby visit to check the end of term.
Mrs Ottun said her child, who had 12 GCSEs, was applying to colleges to study financial matters and routinely got up at 4am to contemplate for his four A-levels.
She told the Standard: "He was a heavenly, mindful kid with such a splendid future in front of him. He was exceptionally aggressive and needed to act as a financial specialist and profit in the City. He needed to profit so he could care for individuals — that is the way he was.
"He generally had a grin all over and took care of his crew. From a young man he would assist, he was only an extraordinary fellow. He was so kind to everybody."

She said her sibling Farouk had flown out to disentangle the circumstances of Jamal's demise, including: "We need a full examination and answers."
Jamal's dad Dapo, 51, an IT expert said: "He was an awesome kid, doing extremely well at school."
The family, initially from Nigeria, live in Sydenham and Jamal has two sisters Rahmat, 12 and Zainad, 19. Mrs Ottun said: "We are a nearby family and I have lost my just kid."
Staff and understudies at Wallington County Grammar School are required to touch base in London today after the visit was give the ax. Headteacher Jonathan Wilden paid tribute, saying: "Jamal would have kept on being an awesome good example for others in the school and past."
