Footballer Junior Dian Dies After Collapsing During Match

A non-league footballer has died after collapsing during a pre-season friendly match.

Junior Dian, 23, fell down during the second half as he played for Ryman Premier League side Tonbridge Angels at Whyteleafe FC in Surrey on Tuesday night....

Two physios and two paramedics attempted to revive him, but the trialist was declared at St George's Hospital in Tooting, London, early on Wednesday morning.

The match was abandoned after Dian collapsed.

The Kent-based club's chairman, Steve Churcher, said: "This is devastating news and our only crumb of comfort is that Junior lost his life doing something he obviously enjoyed so much.
"All our thoughts and sympathies are with his family.

"Also, I would like to thank everyone at Whyteleafe FC for their support and professionalism during this very distressing incident yesterday evening."

People posted letters of condolence on Twitter, with one saying: "Never want to hear news like that R.I.P Junior Dian.

"My thoughts are prayers go out to his family."

Another added: "2 days ago we was together enjoying life and now you're gone, see me grow up from a lil kid to now R.I.P Junior Dian."
