How cult war claims 6 lives in Ikorodu

A 32-year-old surveyor, identified simply as Kunle, and five others have been shot dead in a hotel in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The incident, which happened July 6, was the  result of a supremacy battle between suspected Eiye and Aiye confraternity members in the community.
It was gathered that suspected cult members whose mission was unknown, stormed the hotel, shooting sporadically into the air....

A witness who identified the surveyor as Kunle and his friend Samson, were said to be in the hotel on  Allison Street, when suspected Eiye members stormed the hotel and shot two of them.
It was learned that immediately the surveyor sighted the Eiye member,  he took to his heels and ran towards the Lagos State Government Junior High School where his vehicle was said to be parked.
Rukiat Adebayo, a resident of the area, told Vanguard that the victim was later shot in the school premises when he was about to escape in his vehicle, while Samson was said to have been shot in the leg.
She said: “Every trader in the market on Allison Street ran for dear lives when the suspected cultists stormed the hotel, shooting sporadically. After the dust had settled, we all returned to our shops and discovered that three persons had been shot by the cult members.”
Vanguard gathered that, after Samson was shot at the hotel, he was rushed to  Ikorodu General Hospital but was referred to another hospital due to the severity of the injury he sustained from the gunshot.
Another resident who identified himself as Tunde Bello, said the Eiye members were not satisfied as they went to Itumoja, another community in Ikorodu and killed two other persons after they had killed two persons on Allison Street.
Those who were killed at Itumoja were identified as Idowu and Afeez.
Lamenting, Ijeoma, a food vendor  at Itumoja, said cult clashes at Ikorodu had crippled their business as residents refused to patronize them for fear of being hit by stray bullets.
Mr Kareem Bombata, the leader of Onyabo, a local vigilante in the community, said: “We had got rid of the cult members recently but I was surprised seeing them coming into the streets again. We want Lagos State government to enact a law to deal with cult clashes in the state, as lives are lost whenever they are fighting.”
