Video:Commuters' fury as London Underground shutdown causes travel chaos across the city

Frustrated commuters took to Twitter this morning as a 24-hour Tube strike caused travel chaos for millions making their way into work.
Hundreds of workers - many of whom set their alarm clocks for hours earlier than normal to deal with the effects of the strike - described conditions as 'absolute carnage' as huge queues formed at bus stops and roads were heavily congested with traffic...

As massive crowds gathered on already congested train platforms across the capital, those caught up in the widespread disruption branded the industrial action 'ridiculous' and 'the worst thing in the world'.
Meanwhile, Uber drivers increased the price of their fares to three times the usual price to cash in on the transport misery caused by the dispute.

Motorists driving into the city faced severe traffic delays on most of the main routes into town. A map produced by TomTom revealed there were 1445 separate congestion hotspots - and 761 miles of tailbacks - recorded across the London area at 8.50am.
One traveller said police had been called to a bus stop after the driver refused to move because the vehicle was so full.
Writing on Twitter, one commuter wrote: 'Absolute carnage on 113 bus. Driver refuses to drive as bus is too packed! Police was called and they just arrived! #tubestrike'.
