Tanker explosion kills two brothers in Niger

Two  teenagers of the same family were yesterday consumed by fire from a Tanker explosion in Kagara town, Rafi Local government area of Niger state. The incidence happened between 10 -11pm Thursday.....

Our correspondent reliably gathered that the two teenagers  were asked to stay in the shop by their father after the day’s business. He strolled out with the intention of coming back to also pass a night at the shop only for himto meet his Shop not only razed down by fire but with his two children also consumed. People who could have forced the shop open to rescue the children were not aware that human beings were in the locked up shop.
Besides the loss of lives, four other people were said to have suffered different degrees of Burns from the inferno 30 houses were completely razed, 11 different types of vehicles burnt and also 11 motor cycles burnt.
The Truck loaded with diesel was said to be coming from Lagos and heading for the Northern part of the country was said to have lost control and hit the fence of a Micro Finance Bank in Kagara town and immediately caught fire.
The Tanker was also said to have loaded Charcoals which also aided the fire.
Assistant Zonal coordinator of National Emergency Manag-ement Agency, Musa Abdulrasaq confirmed the incidence adding that the fire had been put off.
Niger State Police Command Spokes man, ASP Bala Elkana when contacted also confirmed the incidence adding that fire fighters from Kagara and neighbouring towns when contacted immediately mobilized to the scene and quenched the fire eventually with the assistance of the residents.
The corpses were immediately deposited at the Kagara Mortuary but later released for burial while those who sustained injuries were also rushed to the same hospital for treatment.
