Urgency of the change mantra

The nation is now critically waiting for the eagerly awaited change exploration of the Nigerian and
political economic territory. The President of Nigeria has now settled down in his Aso Rock Villa Office and has quietly understudied the Ahmed Joda transition committee report and has just begun to establish the directional change he is expected to introduce.
His first personalized economic index is the slashing of his salary and that of his vice by 50%. However, the vast majority of Nigerians expected and still insist that this reduction of the cost of governance should affect all the public and civil service institutions and bureaucracies, legislative or executive in the country. Such an implementation will definitely reduce the present cost of governance which this country cannot afford.
With the agreement Iran and major powers had reached on the nuclear bomb issue and the lifting of sanctions, Iran which is the 4th largest producer of crude oil will certainly dump their products in the market. This has already started to reduce the cost and availability of crude oil and experts predict that for the rest of this year, the price of oil might even go down to about 40dollars from the present 58dollars per barrel.
Nigeria which is Africa’s foremost crude oil supplier will be affected radically by further depreciation. Therefore, a drastic economic agenda for the nation is urgently required on the same scale as that of Greece which has impacted on her citizens and the European nations for an interim bailout fund of about 86billion dollars.
The result of the Greek crisis is that their economic regulatory instruments will have to be drastically overhauled in order to save the nation and her citizens. The same exercise is applicable to a densely populated country of about 170million people and Africa’s largest country Nigeria.
As the Commander In Chief of Nigeria, and a former military general President Buhari has taken up the challenge of insurrection and Boko Haram terrorism by overhauling the High Command of the Security Services with the appointment of new service chiefs to be followed with the retirement of Major Generals and those in High Command. Such a new structure will articulate the rapid elimination of terrorism in our sub region in West Africa in collaboration with the European and American powers who had promised substantial assistance to President Buhari.
Book Haram in the last six weeks, since president Buhari’s inauguration has intensified their aggression and militarism in such a way that Nigerians has become more apprehensive with more than 600 deaths in 6 weeks on insurrection. The Governors and military head of states and stake holders of the Northern states with insurgency problem should meet with the new service chiefs to determine appropriate collaborative measures to stem the incidents urgently.
President Buhari has already established his authority under our present system of governance as the national leader of the APC party and has given an indication that the senate and House of Representatives make up the national assembly. This indication is that the national assembly is not a party assembly but a national legislative caucus whose primary duty is geared towards  national development in various aspects.
As a national body as prescribed in the constitution, it is composed of all the zones in the country given equity and justice to the various nationalities which comprise the country called Nigeria.
It is therefore necessary for president Buhari whose mandate exceptionally covers the whole country to immediately request the National Assembly in view of the urgency to diversify the economy to embark immediately on the restructuring legislative exercise which has been placed on their table as an important transition agenda. Fiscal Federalism and devolution of powers will usher in economic sustainability with healthy competition and growth.
Buhari’s Presidency must emphasis to nation that our present policies and massive domestic and foreign debt are UNSUSTAINABLE and must form a new chapter of CHANGE under a new mantra of NIGERIANOMICS. The team of economic technocrats for a new era of growth and sustainability must take measures for accountability and growth above 9 percent per annum. This measure must ensure rapid non exploitative tendencies within and outside our NATION. We must study the Greek economics of today....
Big thnaks you for the Change ,Mr President-Elect

The Abuja confab report and the constitutional amendment proposed by the national assembly should form the basis of this exercise which should not last more than the next 100days. The states and the zones should anchor the exercise of diversification of the economy from a single product revenue generator like crude oil and gas.
Such an exercise will reduce the pressure on the central government in Abuja and enable our Nigeria economy to grow at a pace of almost 12% per annum. This exercise of rapid growth can be greened to country like Ethiopia which is now achieving a 9% growth with less resource than a country as blessed as Nigeria.
This NIGERIANOMICS must initiate a sustainable policy for the increase in the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) sector of the economy. There must be more emphasis on issues of integrity and discipline in all ramifications. There will be a new wave of employment with the active support of the Nigerian DIASPORA potentials in many areas from Europe and America. It is possible and can be done. The sacrifice must be nationally encompassing and not just for the so called downtrodden.
With this diversification, the Nigerian Power Sector can no longer be left to the central government in Abuja and with such other matters as infrastructure, quality education, good health care, small scale industrialization, entrepreneurship and job creation, Nigeria will become a model for many black nations and those beyond.
President Buhari’s government should identify two major cities in each of the zones which have to be given developmental priority such as Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Kaduna, Kano and Maiduguri. One other major point which the President Buhari administration has to identify as part of the change mantra is the immediate demilitarization of our constitutional and political ethos. The major ports of Lagos, Warri, Port Harcourt, Akwa Ibom and Calabar should be modernized and well equipped.
The present executive constitutional and governmental authority which is highly personalized is virtually against our cultural and traditional and democratic customs, whether Hausa, Yoruba, Ibo, Tiv, Ijaw or Kanuri. It is a fundamental and notorious fact that the present personalized and authoritarian system of governance by our executives is not only undemocratic but in the last 40 years has also made virtually all the heads of the previous and present governments monumental looters of our common treasury.
The EFCC and ICPC are overwhelmed by such financial recklessness. Such exhibition by public servants and political executives has never been seen in the history of Nigeria. Only an urgent end to this malfeasance this year of 2015 under the national leadership of our Nigerian leader can ensure our imminent development and enable President Buhari to stamp his feet in gold for our children and those unborn.
It can be done and Nigerians shall embrace  the change mantra.
